Reading

This photograph is of our 11-year old son reading. The coolest thing about this photo is that it was taken during the day.

When he was a baby and a toddler, I read to him once or twice a day. And until he was about 7, I read to him every night while lying in bed. Until recently, he would read for about 30-minutes on his own before going to sleep. His brother, who is 2 years younger than him, told him he should read the Harry Potter series because it was better than the movies. He thought his little brother was just telling him that to try to get him to read more. One night he didn’t have a new book to read so he picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Then something crazy happened…he stopped picking up his ipad and started reading the book during the day! He even stayed up until 1 a.m. one night, reading! I actually had to remove the book from his hands and turn off his light to get him to stop reading! The next morning he woke up at 9 and didn’t even come down stairs, he just started reading again!

He’s now on the last book. His little brother is reading the series over again.
